HR Director (Global IT Company)

Supporting contribute to a company's expansion by analyzing their current situation in detail

Hiring Situation
  • ・Company C, Global IT company bolstering their hiring in the APAC region, asked us to find an HR Director for the region.
  • ・To date, HR team at HQ in the U.S. had been using agents in each country to help with hiring, but from here out they wanted someone to consolidate and handle their hiring for APAC region.
Our Approach

Normally, when conducting a search for a HR Director for Asia Pacific region, senior candidates are the ideal candidate; however, considering Company C's situation, we thought it was optimal to have a candidate very light on own feet and able to handle tasks personally, while managing subordinates.

This position was targeting a candidate who could be HR Director, yet also work mobily with a small team and function independently while staying in contact with the U.S. HQ and each branch office in APAC.

We approached a candidate, who had experience having to handle whole responsibility from communication with the HQ to hiring other personnel due to the retirement of his supervisor. For this candidate, the position at first blush appeared to be the same level as his current responsibility, but presented undeniable opportunities for career growth as a possible future HR Director. The candidate took this opportunity with the long-term perspective.

In this case, he not only became directly involved with hiring tasks after joining the company, but also had direct access to the HQ and is enjoying a flexible working culture than was available at his previous job.

At present, the company has expanded business to include a hiring manager in each Asian Pacific country and become Head of HR in name and reality.
By avoiding undue emphasis on the job title and instead selecting a candidate with a focus on the actual work tasks, we were able to achieve a result beneficial for both the client and the candidate.
